Volunteer Attorneys Give Free Debt Collection Consumer Education Clinics in Decatur, Georgia

The FREE Consumer Education clinic on Debt Collection sponsored by the DeKalb Volunteer Lawyers Foundation has proven to be quite a success.  Since March 2012, volunteer lawyers have held the debt collection clinic numerous times.  The free clinic is held approximately two times per month on select tuesdays (see flyer for upcoming dates) from 5:30pm-7:00pm at the DeKalb County Library – Decatur Branch located at 215 Sycamore Street, Decatur, Georgia 30030.  The clinic is located downstairs in the Ground Floor Meeting Rooms.

The debt collection consumer education clinic began in March 2012.   The clinic is free to the public and anyone interested is encouraged to attend.  The clinic begins with a brief presentation by a local volunteer attorney who will discuss the basics of what to expect when facing a debt collection lawsuit and basic information about dealing with debt collectors.  After the presentation, attendees who wish to do so are given the opportunity to meet individually with a volunteer lawyer to ask specific questions regarding their situation.  All participants who wish to speak one on one with an attorney are asked to bring any relevant paperwork with them.
